How it ended!
Background
This was a freelance assignment which came to me from an ex-colleague.
Business Octane were leaders in AV solutions for enterprises. They had global clientele who had provided amazing testimonials for the products they served.
However, their website lacked universal appeal and demanded a redesign.
UX study
Pain points
Though the client was more keen on improving the UI design, I thought of going beyond the required, and dig into the overall Usability issues. A detailed Heuristic evaluation brought forth the following issues:
-
Visual appeal was missing
-
Inconsistencies in navigational flows throughout the website
-
Lots of text and inappropriate layout
-
Sometimes the inner pages didn’t open and there were no feedback mechanism for the User
-
Micro-interactions negligible
Initial presentations
As suggestions to our clients, we informed about the Usability issues that could enhance the overall UX of the website, and not just the cosmetic UI.
Client was however keen towards having a slick look and feel for the website as an immediate requirement.
Designs
I created fresh layouts and UI designs for the landing page. It was a long drawn web-layout (with some parallax). To add on to the global appeal, I decided to use large images, minimal text with lots of breathing space.
Colors
Colors were towards the BO Orange, Greys and few specific Blues, White and Black.

We finished the work on Home Page design (above). While we presented the design and got our Client excited with a fresh new design perspective, we failed to bag the project and couldn't continue. Client mentioned budget constraints, and this work slowly landed in our unpublished-works.
